Project overview

E&L Enterprises contributed to the structural expansion of the Preluna Hotel through the fabrication and installation of structural steel reinforcements. The project involved integrating new steel elements directly with the existing reinforced concrete framework, requiring careful coordination, accuracy, and a clear understanding of the existing structure.

With a steel tonnage of approximately 320 tonnes, the works formed a critical part of the hotel’s extension, supporting additional load requirements while maintaining structural continuity with the original building.

Structural fabrication

E&L was responsible for the fabrication of all required steel components, produced to precise dimensions to ensure compatibility with the existing reinforced concrete structure. The fabrication process was carefully planned to accommodate the constraints of working within an operational hospitality environment and an existing structural system.

Each steel element was manufactured to support efficient installation and accurate alignment during assembly.

Surface preparation and protection

As part of the scope of works, all fabricated steel components underwent controlled blasting and epoxy primer coating. This surface preparation ensured a clean substrate and provided essential corrosion protection, supporting the long-term performance of the steel within the building structure.

The coating system was applied under controlled conditions to ensure consistency and durability across all components.

Installation and integration

E&L also carried out the installation of the steel reinforcements, coordinating closely with site teams to integrate the new structure seamlessly with the existing reinforced concrete framework. Installation activities were executed with precision to ensure structural continuity, stability, and compliance with project specifications.

Careful sequencing and coordination minimised disruption and allowed the works to progress efficiently within the constraints of an existing building.
