Project overview

E&L Enterprises was appointed to fabricate and install the structural steel framework for a large storage warehouse developed for the Hudson Group. The facility was designed to support long-term storage operations, requiring a robust steel structure with integrated fire protection measures to meet safety and performance requirements.

With a steel tonnage of approximately 210 tonnes, the project demanded accurate fabrication, controlled surface preparation, and coordinated installation to ensure a durable and compliant structure.

Structural fabrication

E&L was responsible for the fabrication of all structural steel elements forming the warehouse framework. Components were produced to precise specifications to ensure structural stability, efficient assembly, and long-term reliability.

The fabrication process was carefully planned to support smooth installation and to ensure that all elements aligned correctly during erection.

Surface preparation and fire protection

As part of the scope of works, all fabricated steel components underwent controlled blasting prior to the application of a 60-minute intumescent fire protection coating. This treatment was specified to enhance fire performance and ensure compliance with project safety requirements.

The coating application was carried out under controlled conditions to achieve consistent coverage and reliable adhesion across all steel surfaces.

Installation and coordination

E&L also carried out the installation of the steel structure, coordinating lifting operations and on-site assembly in line with the project programme. Installation activities were planned to ensure safe execution, accurate positioning, and efficient progress throughout the construction phase.

Close coordination with site teams ensured that the structure was assembled correctly and in accordance with the project specifications.

The completed Hudson Group Storage Facility provides a strong and reliable steel structure suited to long-term storage use.
